USApple Participates in Penn State Grower Field Day, Meets With Young Growers Alliance
USApple’s Todd Hultquist and Mark Seetin joined apple and specialty crop growers from the mid-Atlantic for the 2009 Penn State University Fruit Research and Extension Center Grower Field Day held in Biglerville, PA.  Key issues included advances in sustainable and organic fruit production; the latest in orchard automation; fruit research and orchard management and care.  Hultquist and Seetin also met with the Young Growers Alliance (YGA), the next generation of specialty crop growers seeking to develop new approaches to meet future growing and marketing challenges through educational opportunities, community involvement, field trips and networking events.  Launched in Pennsylvania in 2005, the group’s membership now stretches from New England to the Carolinas, and has generated interest in other apple growing regions around the country.
